Welcome to the Henfield Haven The 'safe haven' for the Henfield community
The Henfield Haven launched in 2015 when a group of local volunteers, working with West Sussex County Council, agreed a plan to take over the Henfield Day Care Centre from the Council. This had been funded in part by grants from WSCC and by several other fund-raising activities. It very soon proved to be an invaluable and much loved resource and, in June 2020, the Haven was honoured with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services - the highest award for such services - and a fitting tribute to our many volunteers.
With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, funding was withdrawn in June 2020, and the Haven began its life anew as a self-supporting organisation dedicated to offering high-needs dementia care, carer support, friendship and company for those who are vulnerable or isolated - all run by a wonderful team of volunteers. The Haven continues to be an essential part of the village and its outlying communities, offering a secluded and safe environment to meet, while still observing necessary Covid restrictions.
