The Henfield Haven receives the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services
The Lord Lieutenant for West Sussex, Mrs Susan Pyper, attended the Henfield Haven on Sunday 5th September to present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This is the highest award that the voluntary sector can achieve – the equivalent of an MBE.
Mrs Pyper explained the lengthy process involved in being awarded the QAVS, and how demanding the assessment criteria are to achieve. She praised the work of the 60+ volunteers, without whom the Haven would not have survived. The Lord Lieutenant also thanked the Haven which became the operations centre for the Henfield Helpline during the Covid19 lockdown, providing much needed support to nearly 500 households in the local area and coordinating several hundred volunteers.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant Caroline Phillips then read out the citation, signed by Her Majesty the Queen.

NEW MINIBUS FOR THE HAVEN
We have now purchased a bright and shiny 9-seater minibus specially adapted with a lift and wheelchair access.
A huge thanks to Richard and Alex from Coles Automotive - one of our Sponsors - for their hard work sourcing, servicing, MOT'ing and putting new tyres on the bus, all for free. They've also generously agreed to sponsor looking after the vehicle with free mechanic hours too, which is an enormous help.
Ongoing thanks, too, for all the wonderful donations and YOUR support which allowed us at the Haven to purchase this minibus,
so crucial to our operation.
